Why We Need God's Gift of Righteousness

Passage: Romans 1:18–1:32
Early on in Paul’s letter to the Romans, the apostle explains humanity’s greatest threat and it’s greatest problem. With pinpoint accuracy, the Spirit of God (through Paul) answers the often repeated question, “What’s wrong with the world?”
Paul labors to explain the dreadful news of man’s condition before expounding on the good news of what God has done to rescue and restore us. The more we grasp what we are by nature and what we deserve because of our sins, the more we’ll appreciate the unspeakably wonderful gift that God offers sinners in His Son, Jesus Christ.
This sobering portion of Scripture serves as a mirror for human beings today as it did nearly two-thousand years ago when it was written. The loud, resounding cry of history is that the human heart—ever since Genesis 3—has not changed.
